Nearly 55,000 households have currently been affected by the weather, with their belongings and temporary homes ruined.

Persistent precipitation over the last seven days have worsened the already dire circumstances of the many hundreds of thousands of uprooted residents in the territory, as reported by aid agencies.

"Awful" Conditions Creates Grave Risks

A spokesman described the previous night's conditions as "awful", with precipitation so severe that up to 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the streets.

"The recent weather was really terrible for the residents. The storms were so intense... And the winds were so powerful," stated the representative.

There is extreme anxiety that minors living in temporary structures in damp garments will contract hypothermia and additional sicknesses.

Deaths and Widespread Loss

Health authorities have stated that one baby has succumbed from hypothermia and a minimum of 11 other people have been killed in building collapses caused by the harsh conditions.

Further statements indicate a higher fatality count. Authorities said that several homes had fully given way and scores had been partly destroyed.

  • Almost 55,000 families impacted by the weather.
  • More than 40 official safe spaces severely flooded.
  • Countless residents compelled to move once more.

Assistance Distribution Seen as Not Enough

Organizations have stepped up distribution of tents, blankets and clothes following the ceasefire commenced, but they have said there is still not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Officials are operating tirelessly to bring in that aid and to allocate it, but the scale of the requirements is so vast that we are faced with many thousands of individuals and children who are genuinely struggling nightly," stated one representative.

Long-Term Concerns and Truce Provisions

The second phase of the agreement involves plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the withdrawal of personnel, and other provisions.

Aid bodies have underscored the imperative for "increased and sustained aid to address urgent and future requirements."

The conflict was sparked by an attack in October 2023. Later campaigns have caused a high number of lives lost in the area, based on official figures.
