Three-time NBA MVP Jokic endured a "devastating" knee injury when the Denver Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 against the Heat.

Jokic was hurt towards the end of the second quarter following an accidental collision with fellow Nugget Jones.

The other player came down on the foot of Jokic, and he immediately collapsed to the court holding his leg.

The veteran player, that leads the NBA this season in rebounds and assists, recorded 21 points and eight assists in the matchup before sustaining the setback.

The player is scheduled for an scan on the following day to assess the seriousness of the injury.

"Immediately, Jokic realized something was wrong," commented Denver coach Adelman.

"This is part of the NBA. Any player that is injured, it's gut-wrenching, most notably somebody as talented as him. More information will come on Tuesday."

"The team will adjust together. Clearly, at this moment, I'm focused about him personally and the disappointment of experiencing an event like that."
