The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Displeasure About Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.
Digital Channels Response
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Changes
Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
