The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Meeting Versus Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer was instrumental for the Astros securing the championship in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays reached their maiden championship series following 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the AL Championship Series.
Down by two runs, Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh frame, propelling the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a four games to three win in the best-of-seven series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, holders of the reigning title, in the forthcoming World Series.
"I'm thrilled for this squad, our city, the nation," commented Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
Springer has now slugged twenty-three October home runs, placing him third on the list after Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"I can't think of another player in the world that I want up in that situation other than him with his post-season brilliance," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the early in the series, continue to be the one club yet to make an appearance in a World Series.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it's going to sting" in the wake of his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts in the campaign.
"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the wrong side of this game," he continued.
The Blue Jays claimed the title on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
