Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts

The Gunners' ten-match victorious run came to an end by Sunderland prior to the global break, but will the Premier League leaders bounce back against local foes Spurs this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of guests.

For week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Football and Parenting Life

Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not intending a serious comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a benefit match the other evening for a mate of mine," he said. "The team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or son decides to play instead."

The singer and his spouse his partner have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.

"I won't push football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be managing their weekend soccer side," he said.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our side for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their offense is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this game will be quite close, however. The Clarets are well organised and their only home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

It smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

The singer's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two games - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear strong again.

West Ham's sole on the road win this season came at Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno was previously Forest coach.

Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - will it be the Hammers extending their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I will choose Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but West Ham have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four games.

A family member advised me to select Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had great success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are always decent at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to attack on the break but I feel the home manager's side carry much more of a threat.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Olly's view: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many scores but it in reality proves to be rather close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.

They have got plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.

Regarding Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.

Their performance in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The logical choice to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the close of last month.

However I am not do that. Rather, I really need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good results because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's home form, the only team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

The guest's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a poor streak... but Fulham have still been decent at home this season. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

It is a tough one to predict. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
