Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's natural for questions to be raised about his position after another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the team's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal discussions I sense the belief. But I've not talked to them after this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

Slot lamented known shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a spell such as this with results like these.”

Jones finished, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to its rightful place, show everyone once more what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
