The young full-back A further composed performance from the rising star following his initial appearance versus Serbia. A teammate was unable to take full advantage of an exquisite touch behind the opposing backline. The role is firmly his already. 7

Adam Wharton His first start in an England shirt. Somewhat sloppy in possession though his inswinging set-pieces were a threat. An effective pace-controller available to the coach to utilize against defensive opponents. Cautioned after a reckless challenge. 6

Declan Rice Crosses from corners and free-kicks were dangerous. Was given freedom to move down the left flank but was offside upon receiving with a chance to score. Granted a merited substitution after an hour. 6

Jude Bellingham Functioned in an advanced position down the right and put in dirty work. Showed glimpses of brilliance and dragged a shot high. Replaced in the closing stages by a teammate, his competition, following a yellow card. 7/10

The winger Had England’s best chance before halftime, his shot smartly stopped by the opposing goalkeeper. As a teammate hanging back, he was forced to stretch the play out wide yet his deliveries into the box varied in quality. Substituted for the final quarter-hour. 6/10

The captain The difference-maker scoring two more goals at international level. His first a trademark close-range tap-in and the second a superb finish with his head after peeling away off his defender. At 32, he continues to improve with the national team stand a real opportunity next summer with him leading the line. Eight

The attacker Had difficulty to get into the game out wide. Was presented with a good opening following a pass from a teammate however Strakosha made the save. His replacement produced a bigger effect when substituted. 5
