Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

The charging documents outline the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
